Our trust member, East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) has substantively appointed Lorraine Sunduza OBE as its Chief Executive Officer.
Lorraine has been with the Trust for 22 years and embodies ELFT’s values of care, respect and inclusion. Her career began in adult mental health inpatient services and, in 2018, she was appointed to the Board as Chief Nurse. She has demonstrated outstanding leadership, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic, and was recognised in the King’s New Year Honours this year.
Lorraine has been the Interim Chief Executive since August 2023, following the appointment of former Chief Executive, Paul Calaminus, as Chief Executive at North East London NHS Foundation Trust.
Speaking about her appointment today, Lorraine said:
It has been a great privilege to serve as Interim CEO of ELFT over the last 9 months and I am delighted to have been appointed substantively. I believe strongly in our mission as a Trust to improve the quality of life for all we serve and look forward to continuing to work with our service users and carers, staff and system partners in our shared endeavour to deliver this aim for our populations in North East London, Bedfordshire and Luton.
Eileen Taylor, who is the Chair of ELFT, added:
The Trust Board is delighted to see Lorraine appointed substantively. Lorraine’s commitment to delivery of the Trust’s strategic priorities - to improving population health, experience of care, staff experience and value – has long been evident and leadership and delivery of these priorities, working together with our system partners, is safe in her hands.
Lorraine has also played a pivotal role in the development of ELFT’s ‘organisational treasures’: clinical leadership, kind and caring staff, people participation, quality improvement, our diversity as a Trust and our approach to inclusion. I can think of no better steward to ensure that these continue to underpin the work of the Trust in the months and years to come.
