Trust has appointed three patient safety partners
Our Turst member, The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, has appointed three patient safety partners (PSPs), as part of NHS England’s national plan to improve patient safety across healthcare in the country.
Elizabeth Newington, Ava Weinbrecht and Afia Nkrumah (pictured left to right) started their new roles this week and will work with the Trust to make sure patient safety is at the forefront of all we do.
PSPs can be patients, carers, family members or other lay people (including NHS staff from another organisation).
Antonia Carding-Wright, Associate Director of Nursing said:
“We warmly welcome our three new Patient Safety Partners as members of staff to the Trust today. The lived experience and expertise they bring to these roles is invaluable to us as a CNO team as well as the wider Trust. This is a fantastic milestone in the journey to meaningfully embedding patient voice and feedback to all elements of the work we do. I have no doubt everyone will give them a warm welcome in the work they begin to do over the coming months.”
The PSPs will be involved in a range of activities including but not limited to:
- Talking with patients and staff about safety and what matters to them
- Supporting safety training for staff
- Joining safety groups and team meetings
- Helping develop patient safety information resources
- Supporting the safety team when reviewing incidents
- Help us understand what we do well and how we can do this more of it
