Youth Justice Minister Sir Nicholas Dakin recently visited Oasis Restore , the first secure school in the country, to meet staff and children.
He embarked on a tour of the site and met with members of the health, education and residential team, including our Health and Justice colleagues Melissa Beaumont, Clinical Lead (Children and Young People Service Line) and Drama Therapist, Chih Ling Liu.
He learnt about the specialised workforce at Oasis Restore and the therapeutic approach that sits at the heart of their work, supporting children in custody in making better life choices and turning away from crime.
Nic joined a core team meeting with a young person, and as a former teacher, he was able to have warm conversations about their keen interest in English and writing.
