Congratulatioon to West London NHS Trust for their CAMHS services featuring in BBC3 documentary ‘The Fight For Young Lives’ presented by Roman Kemp.
A new BBC3 documentary ‘The Fight For Young Lives’ was aired on Wednesday 1 November, presented by TV star Roman Kemp. The documentary looked at the mental health support on offer to young people across the country and the increasing pressure on Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services(CAMHS).
Earlier this year, Roman and the documentary team spent a day with the Trust CAMHS crisis alliance team to learn about the mental health support the team offer children and young people (CYP) and what a typical day of caseloads looks like. Roman was taken on a guided walk through A&E at West Middlesex Hospital by one of our team and talked through the triage process of when a young person presents at A&E in a mental health crisis.
Mental health care pathways available in community settings and early intervention are some of the things the documentary will touch upon including a visit to The Circle, a crisis café for young people commissioned by the Trust in collaboration with Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow Mind.
To coincide with the documentary, we will be shining a spotlight on some of the work of our community CAMHS teams as part of the collaborative and early intervention work to support children and young people with their mental health.
