After coming to the end of his term in the role, David Bradley is stepping down as the Chair of the Cavendish Square Group and will be succeeded by Jinjer Kandola, Chief Executive at North London NHS Foundation Trust, with Paul Calaminus, Chief Executive and North East London NHS Foundation Trust as Deputy Chair.
Reflecting on is time as Chair, David says:
“Since 2014, the Cavendish Square Group (CSG) has been the collective voice for mental health services in London. By working together we have provided support and exchanged information, driven good practice and more strongly advocated for our sector’s needs. We have grown to have nine CSG groups representing each key Executive function, helping us to drive forward positive change. Our activities span the Safety and Equality in Mental Health Inpatient Settings (SEMHIS) programme, to shape safer and more inclusive inpatient care; working with the Metropolitan Police and other partners on the Right Care, Right Person framework; our #OpenYourMind campaign among young people and more recently our focus on building a common approach to productivity and capitalising on the opportunities that come with digital transformation. There is much to celebrate across all our trusts, in particular the hard work and commitment of our dedicated staff, yet there are also challenges, as demand for our services continues amidst financial pressures. By working together across London we can share ideas, solve problems and deliver the changes needed to deliver better outcomes for the people we serve. I wish Jinjer every success as she takes forward the next chapter of CSG work.”
Jinjer, who takes over from 12 September says:
“I am delighted to take on the role of Chair at such a crucial time for mental health in London given the recent publication of 10 year plan and the development of a Modern Service Framework. The Cavendish Square Group shows the power of collaboration – sharing learning, addressing common challenges, and strengthening our impact as a network of provider trusts. I look forward to building on David’s leadership and continuing to drive progress.”
