King’s International Consortium, the first official NHS Consortium, is pleased to announce the addition of South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust [SLaM]. SLaM is a large multi-site provider of a comprehensive range of NHS mental health services in the U.K. and joins King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as part of the group. The Consortium is supported by the NHS Export Collaborative and Healthcare UK.
As a “wrap-around” service, the Consortium can provide support to establish new healthcare facilities overseas and by partnering with private investors to develop these healthcare facilities, we can share our knowledge, skills and expertise. All profits generated from this work are reinvested back into the NHS for the benefit of UK patients.
Lorcan Woods, Chief Financial Officer, King's College Hospital said, “I’m very pleased to welcome South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust to King’s International Consortium. South London and Maudsley has a long history of providing specialist mental health care and working internationally. They will bring a great deal of experience and expertise to the group.
Sir Norman Lamb, Chair of South London and Maudsley said, ''I am delighted that South London and Maudsley is joining the King's International Consortium to engage the best of the NHS globally. Ensuring that mental health care is integral to international work with our NHS partners is crucial and we look forward to developing exciting partnerships and opportunities going forward."
